"The wind shook some blossoms from the trees, and the heavy lilac blooms, with their clustering stars, moved to and fro in the languid air. A grasshopper began to chirrup by the wall, and like a blue thread a long thin dragonfly floated past on its brown gauze wings. Lord Henry felt as if he could hear Basil Hallward's heart beating, and wondered what was coming." - pg 9
This quote creates imagery, which means that it appeals to the reader's senses. This part is when Basil is about to tell Lord Henry of the time he met Dorian Gray, and Lord Henry starts to get more interested in Dorian as he lostens to the time they met.

Elements of Historical Contents: Wealth
In this book, there are problems when it comes to wealth. Dorian wants to marry a poor lady named Sibyl Vane, and his friends kept complaining on how poor she was. In the Victorian era, the rich and poor were seperated in a huge way. The situatuation with Dorian and Sybil is accurate with marrying up, which was prefferable, and not down.
Elements of Romance/ Relationship
Dorain Gray and Sibyl Vane are madly in love with each other. All they thought about was each other, but that only lasted so long. He was going to marry this young lady, and he regrets nothing so far. But when Dorian tells Basil and Henry to come and join him to watch a show to show them how talented Sibyl is, she makes a horrible preformance, and Dorian is disappointed. He was just in love with her acting, beauty, and her presence. Dorian ends the relationship the night of the preformance, and she kills herself, because she can not live without him.
Literary Elements (Flashback)
"Two months ago I went to a crush at Lady Brandon's...I turned halfway around and saw Dorain Gray for the first time...I knew I had come face to face with someone whose mere personality was so fascinating that, if I allowed it to do so, it would absorb my whole nature, my whole soul, my very art itself." Basil Hallward Pg. 9-10
A flash back is when there is a interuption in the chronological order of a story to bring back a time in the past, mostly because it has to do with something important to the plot. Then purpose of this text is that Basil was talking to Lord Henry and was explaining how it was destined that Dorian Gray and himself to meet.

What In The World?!?!? (chapter 23)
Ok monster you can come out now, you can get me out of my paranoid state, so that me and Elizabeth can enjoy our marriage. Ugh, I am just going to search the house. I was searching the house and out of no where I hear Elizabeth scream. I realize he was not going to kill me, he was going to kill the people I love! With my grief over Elizabeth's death, I go home to my father and tell him the news. Shocked by the death of my barely married wife, he dies a couple of days later. It was time I tell my horrid secret and I try to convince the magistrate that the monster killed my wife, and he doesn't believe me! So I vow to devote the rest of my life to find and destroy the monster, for all the pain he has caused me. For the deaths of Elizabeth, William, Justine, and my father, I will destroy him!
Well, time to go home! (Chapter 22)
Ahh, nothing is better then spending some time with your father, and to make it even more special is that he came because he came to prove me innocent ! Now that's a good father! Anyways, we stopped in Paris to rest a little (well for me to rest anyways) and just before we left, i got a letter from Elizabeth, saying that she was worried about me and if I have seen another woman, but tof course I say that she is my only source of joy. And these letter made me think about the monster's threat and i intend to fight back. Only one of us will live, but whatever happens, my misery will come to an end.
Eventually me and my father arrive home, and we begin planning the wedding. Elizabeth still worries about me (typical Elizabeth) and I assure her that all will be well after the wedding (even though I doubt it). The wedding day approaches, and I can only think of what the monster said, and I can only get more and more nervous. But the wedding takes place, and nothing of the monster is here...........

I did what I must!!! (chapter 20)
I cannot get the idea of the two monsters ruining the lives of more. What if might not want to seclude herself? What if the creatures have children? And while working on this disgrace, I see the monster grinning, outside of my window! His hideous face made me realize that if I create another of him, who knows what would happen! I just destroy the horrid creation in it's progress. The monster gets enraged and he just swears at me saying that he will get his revenge and that he will be with me on my wedding! Is that a threat or what?! I am not sure what I should do right now, but I get a letter from Henry saying that he wants to continue our travels , so I just pack my things and we leave. And when I to a town, they tell me I am a suspect for a murder! What is going on!?
I must start now! (chapter 19)
Well then, me and Henry are just on a little journy through England and Scottland, and I need to start on this "partner project" for the horrid creature. I need to get rid of this "bond" from him so I can move on with my life. I found an aquaintance in this little Scottish town, and I tell Henry to stay with him so I can have some alone time, and for a little tour of Scottland. I go to an island named Orkneys to do my project. With a little shack i found here in the island, I start working on my project, having troubles doing my work. I know how ling it is going to take, how unsatisfying the product of my labor will be, but i just need to finish it. The monster better not turn on me, or I will destroy him and his little "companion".

Well.............ok (chapter 17)
Of course i refuse to create him a female monster, but he keeps telling me that he has a right to have a partner, and he appeals to my sense of responsibility as his creator. Goodness, if i knew being a creator would be so complicated, I just wanted to prove everybody wrong that I can create life. And now he wants a wife. Well, he did say that he would stop this rage and supposedly go to a South American jungle (were ever that is). Well, fine, I will create a female for you, but it wil take some time.
What?!? (chapter 16)
The monster was rejected from speaking to De Lacey, and now the monster swears his revenge on humans!!! This cannot be good, of all people it cannot be him!! This explains why he killed William! He says he is after the Frankensteins most of all. He puts the picture of my mother and puts it in the pocket of the young girl. No wonder why she was executed. And now he tell me to make him a mate, like if I am going to do something nice for causing the deaths of two people I cared about!
